CNC Machinist Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Generate CNC programs, with and without programming software, using the correct speeds, feeds, and depths of cuts appropriate for the material being machined.
- Train employees of the machine shop area with high level of emphasis in the areas of Safety, Quality, and Sense of Pace during all shop activities.
- Assist Machine Shop Leadership in maintaining the Machine Shop schedule including but not limited to assigning shop and administrative tasks. CNC machines to produce precision parts to drawing specifications.
- Assume leadership roles as designated when Machine Shop Supervisor isn’t present.
- Monitor the speeds and feeds of CNC machines during the machining process.
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics, machine shop theories, and instruments, including but not limited to, micrometers and vernier calipers.
- Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto the machines.
- Select appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in the machining processes.
CNC Machinist Skills and Requirements:
- Five years of experience in the operation and setup of CNC mills and lathes.
- Two years of experience in CNC programming using multiple controls/programs
- Demonstrated knowledge of CNC Programming using multiple platforms including Fanuc, Mazatrol and Master Cam.
- Ability to operate all shop equipment.
- Ability to effectively coach and train employees.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects daily in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to speak, write and read English.
- Able to work independently or as part of a team on a broad variety of projects.
- Willingness to work additional hours to meet tight deadlines.
