CNC Machinist Key Responsibilities:
- Operate CNC lathes, including Vertical Turning Lathes (VTL), and 3-axis milling machines
- Set basic offsets and use probes efficiently for offset determination
- Construct basic machine “G” codes and identify potential crash moves
- Build touch-off points and accurately set tool lengths
- Interpret advanced blueprints and sketches to ensure proper fit and finish of machined parts
- Use precision measurement tools to assess tolerances and surface finishes
- Deburr and sketch parts using the appropriate tools
- Diagnose and troubleshoot machine and process issues
- Rework damaged parts as required
CNC Machinist Qualifications & Skills:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 3 years of CNC machining experience or a Machining Certificate from an accredited vocational/technical program (preferred)
- Basic computer skills
- Strong knowledge of machining terminology and practices
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and blueprints
- Familiar with surface finish specifications and quality expectations
- Experience operating VTL and 3-axis machines
- Proficient in use of calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and other precision tools
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and 5S methodology
- Adept verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds
