Maintenance Mechanic Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical/electronic equipment, including programmable controls, variable speed AC drives, power supplies, gearboxes, and pumps.
- Inform management and line mechanics of potential electrical/mechanical issues and inherent dangers.
- Assist maintenance personnel with technical troubleshooting.
- Document all trouble response calls using rounds sheets, logbooks, work orders, and downtime logs.
- Provide descriptions, part numbers, quantities, and timelines to the Engineering Parts Coordinator to ensure adequate parts inventories.
- Communicate effectively with Engineering Team Leaders, Production Managers, Production Associates, and fellow Engineers during daily, weekly, and monthly activities.
- Ensure all startup and shutdown procedures are completed properly and timely in accordance with company safety procedures and OSHA requirements.
Maintenance Mechanic Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; a two-year technical degree or accredited apprenticeship program in a technical field is a plus.
- 1-3 years of experience with ammonia refrigeration, including compressors, ammonia pumps, condensing towers, and an understanding of the refrigeration cycle.
- 3-5 years of proven experience in electrical/electronics, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic fields.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to handle multiple projects/repairs simultaneously.
- Proficiency in TIG and stick welding is a plus.
- Thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic components, equipment, and diagnostic instruments, with the ability to read and understand electrical schematics.
- Experience with computer operations and PLC systems.
- Ability to work well with all personnel levels, individually or in a team environment, and effectively interface with line operators for repairs and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of machining and assembly practices, tools, and fixtures.
- Ability to use a voltmeter, read basic electrical prints, and identify basic hand and power tools.
